AURORA, CO – Two people were sent to the hospital following a five-vehicle collision on Interstate 225 along Smith Road on Thursday, CBS News reports.
Officials responded to the scene of the crash around 5:30 a.m. and came to find that five vehicles were blocking traffic lanes. At least three police cars responded to the scene of the crash, and a tow truck appeared to be in the process of towing a dark-colored car and a pickup truck. During that time, all southbound lanes remained blocked, and officials were urging drivers to avoid the area or prepare to wait until the scene cleared.
Officials also urged motorists to avoid East 17th Avenue at Fitzsimons Parkway. There, crews were working to repair damaged RTD crossing guards for a light crossing, located outside the Anschutz Medical Campus.
