ELBERT COUNTY, CO – A man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a collision on Highway 86 Monday morning, Denver 7 reports.
According to Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of Highway 86 east of Kiowa around 6:36 am. The driver of a Dodge pickup truck was headed westbound when they veered off the road, overcorrected when attempting to cut back onto the road, and drove into oncoming traffic.
The Dodge struck the driver’s side of a Ford SUV. The Ford driver, a 68-year-old woman, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The Dodge driver, a 45-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
