News: Teen, 17, arrested after causing fatal crash in Thornton

THORNTON, CO – A 17-year-old teenager was arrested after causing a collision that claimed the life of a male motorcyclist and critically hurt a 12-year-old girl Tuesday. 

The collision happened around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of Thornton Parkway and Welby Road, according to Thornton police

Officers said the 17-year-old teenager, driving a BMV, was turning south on Welby Road when he slammed into a Harley Davidson going east on Thornton Parkway. 

EMS crews rushed the motorcyclist and his passenger, the 12-year-old, to a hospital. There, the biker passed away. 

Police said they arrested the teenage boy for “careless driving causing death.” He has since been released pending further investigation.
