LITTLETON, CO – A truck’s brake failure was a contributing factor that caused a collision that left damage to a QuickTrip gas station and sent one person to a hospital on Tuesday, Denver 7 said.

Littleton Police said the crash occurred after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Belleview Avenue and S. Zuni Street.

Police determined that a person driving a semi-truck lost control of their vehicle due to a brake failure, which caused them to crash into a car. That car was then pushed into the gas station wall, causing part of the wall to break, and pinning the car driver against the wall.

Police and eyewitnesses were able to free the pinned car driver before fire crews arrived.

The car driver and the truck driver were injured. EMS crews transported the car driver to a hospital.

The truck driver refused medical attention at the scene, and there was no confirmation of them being taken to a hospital.

The five employees and 25 customers inside the store were safely evacuated.

Denver 7 said the truck is affiliated with CDS Transport, which has seven vehicles and six drivers. Within the last two years, the company received several citations, one of which included a driver for not having the proper commercial driver’s license, and two trucks had several violations and failed vehicle inspections. The company has not publicly commented on Tuesday’s collision or spoken about the particular citations.
