KEN CARYL, CO – One person died, and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on the westbound CO 470 overpass on Tuesday, CBS News reports.

The incident happened above Ken Caryl Avenue. Colorado State Patrol said the driver of a red Toyota SUV, a 31-year-old man, drifted off the road, crashed into a median, and into a guardrail.

The Toyota came to rest and did not block any lanes of traffic. EMS crews rushed the driver and his two passengers, a 30-year-old woman, and a 2-year-old toddler, to a hospital. There, the driver succumbed to his injuries.

The woman and toddler survived and are recovering from minor injuries. Officials believe all three occupants are New Mexico residents.

Authorities closed the area and redirected traffic off the highway.
