BOULDER, CO – A quarterback for the University of Colorado Boulder football team died in a DUI collision last month, according to Denver7.

The student-athlete, 23-year-old Dominiq Ponder, had a blood alcohol content of .167, which was twice the legal limit of 0.08. The crash occurred on March 1.

The incident unfolded when Ponder failed to negotiate a curve while driving a 2023 Tesla and crashed his electric car into a guardrail. The car was pushed forward and crashed into an electrical line pole, causing it to overturn.

Ponder died from several blunt force injuries. Police detectives deem the crash an accident.
