ENGLEWOOD, CO – A hit-and-run crash turned into a police chase, which ended in the suspect’s arrest Monday, KDVR reports.

The events unfolded after 1 p.m. at the intersection of West Dartmouth Avenue and South Broadway, where the suspect crashed into another vehicle and then fled the scene without rendering aid or calling 911. Englewood police officers discovered that the suspect’s vehicle was stolen from Sheridan. Officers did everything they could to pursue the suspect and make him pull over but stopped before the public’s safety was compromised.

Just before 1:30 p.m., the suspect’s stolen vehicle leaked fluid, and the suspect fled the scene on foot, heading to Evans and Delaware Street RTD Station.

An eyewitness saw that the suspect entered a parked car and then fled to another neighborhood in Denver. Denver police and SWAT were also called to the scene.

Police did not have to apprehend the suspect, as he called 911 and turned himself in to law enforcement.

Police booked the suspect into custody and arrested him on a “misdemeanor warrant.”
