According to 9News, police have identified the victim as 56-year-old Rickey Swaniger. Swaniger, who was driving the fuel tanker truck, crashed into the bridge’s retaining wall on Nov. 27 around 1 p.m.
Swaigner was the sole occupant of his vehicle.
The force of the collision spilled significant amounts of fuel onto the road, prompting closures on Yale Avenue along I-25. During that time, the Regional Transportation District’s E Line was also shut down.
Hazmat crews took several hours to clean up the spill before reopening all lanes.
