According to CBS News, Commerce City police announced to the public on Thursday, Oct. 9, that the pickup truck driver, identified as Kwame Adjei-Broni, faces the following charges: careless driving causing injury and failure to yield, and careless driving causing death.
The collision occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, at the intersection of Tower Road and East 81st Avenue. Adjei-Broni was going south on Tower Road when he struck the shuttle bus (not affiliated with the Denver International Airport) as it was waiting to make a left turn.
The force of the collision ejected three people. Out of those people, it was a man, later identified as John Hughes, who died from his injuries at the scene.
Seven bus occupants, including the driver and Adjei-Broni’s passenger, were injured.
Police will present more information to Colorado’s 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
