CASTLE ROCK, CO – A 31-year-old man’s life was claimed, and a 58-year-old woman was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 on Friday.
The collision happened before 1:30 p.m. along the exit to Happy Canyon Road, CBS News reports. Colorado State Patrol did not specify the events leading up to the crash, but said it involved a gray Chevy Equinox, a blue Toyota Highlander, and a white Audi Q5.
An image showed the white Audi and blue Highlander blocking two lanes, while the Chevy Equinox was seen on the shoulder.
CSP said the 31-year-old man, from Aurora, was driving the Chevy Equinox, and the 58-year-old woman, a Castle Pines local, was driving the Highlander.
CSP has not specified the current physical condition of the 58-year-old woman.
Officials shut down the northbound lanes between Exit 182: Wilcox Street (Castle Rock) and Exit 188 and Castle Pines Parkway (near Castle Pines) for the scene clean-up process for the scene-clean up process and overall investigation.
Amid the closures, the Castle Rock Police Department also worked to detour traffic through Castle Rock and requested commuters not to contact the department concerning matters of traffic congestion after this particular crash or its signal timing.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office added that traffic congestion, even on the alternative routes, was also backed up.
